President Donald Trump announced on May 18 the expansion of TrumpRx.gov, adding over 600 generic medications to the government website. The site now directs consumers to private-sector online pharmacies, including Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs, Amazon Pharmacy, and GoodRx.

The Trump administration has negotiated most-favored-nation deals with 17 large drug companies to lower prices to levels seen in other developed nations. Previously, the site listed only brand-name drugs.

"We went from the highest to the lowest [prices]," Trump said. "Outside of maybe a cure itself, it's the biggest thing to happen to health care."

While TrumpRx aims to reduce costs, critics note that generic equivalents of listed brand-name drugs often cost less elsewhere. The site does not process insurance claims, and most Americans use their health insurance for prescriptions. A recent KFF survey found 6 in 10 Americans worry about affording prescription drugs.

New features include price comparison tools and home delivery options. Cuban lauded the initiative, predicting that increased referrals through TrumpRx will drive prices even lower.

"Republicans want cheaper drugs. Independents want cheaper drugs. Democrats want cheaper drugs," Cuban said. "I think we're going to do something special."
