Singapore Premier League club Hougang United has been fined by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) after fielding a foreign player without an approved work pass. The FAS review found that club staff and management should have detected the oversight. Disciplinary measures are pending against the involved staff.
Player Gloire Amanda participated in three matches before his work pass status in Singapore was fully cleared. Although an application was submitted, formal approval or physical issuance had not occurred. Consequently, Amanda was deemed ineligible.
The results of the matches featuring Amanda will be overturned, with three points awarded to the opposing teams. Scores will be adjusted to a 3-0 margin where applicable. This impacts the club's record in SPL and SPL2 competitions.
The FAS stated it will implement enhanced verification protocols for foreign player registration to prevent future incidents and safeguard competition integrity.
