Winnipeg Blue Bombers kicker Sergio Castillo has made history by winning both of the team's annual community service awards in the same year. Castillo was named the recipient of the Ed Kotowich ‘Good Guy Award’ and the Cal Murphy ‘Heart of a Legend Award’ on Wednesday.

The ‘Good Guy Award’ recognizes excellent football ability, leadership, and community involvement. The ‘Heart of a Legend Award’ honors outstanding sportsmanship and dedication to the CFL and the community.

Castillo, 35, actively partners with the Dream Factory and KIDTHINK, regularly visits local hospitals, and participates in football clinics. He expressed his surprise and gratitude, stating, "You do things not expecting anything in return. You do it because we have a responsibility, especially playing for the Blue Bombers, to represent the ‘W’ on and off the field."

The Ed Kotowich Award has been presented since 1987, named after a former Bomber player and coach. The Cal Murphy Award, named after a former Bombers general manager and head coach, has been awarded since 2001.
