Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has set a new NBA record, achieving 127 consecutive games with 20 points or more. This remarkable streak surpasses Wilt Chamberlain's previous record of 126 games, which had stood since 1963.

Gilgeous-Alexander achieved the milestone during the Thunder's 104-102 victory over the Boston Celtics. He finished the game with 35 points and nine assists. Despite the individual accomplishment, Gilgeous-Alexander emphasized team goals, stating, "The streak is the streak, the awards are the awards. But the thing I’m most proud of is winning."

The streak began during the Thunder's championship run. Gilgeous-Alexander, who also won the scoring title last season and ranks second this year, has been a crucial player for the Thunder, who currently hold the league's best record. Coach Mark Daigneault praised his player's focus and precision, noting that the individual streak has not come at the expense of team success.

Chamberlain's record was set from 1961 to 1963. Gilgeous-Alexander's consistency has been a defining characteristic of his career, with five games of 50 points or more during this record-breaking streak. He was last held under 20 points on October 30, 2024.
