Suzuka, Japan-Max Verstappen described his performance at the Japanese Grand Prix as 'beyond frustrating,' finishing eighth despite starting 11th.
The Red Bull driver, who has criticized Formula One’s new regulations, said the car’s feel remained unchanged from qualifying. "I was just trying to hang on," he told Sky Sports.
This marked the first time this season that both Red Bull cars completed the race. Verstappen, who will race in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in May, acknowledged the need for improvements.
Team principal Laurent Mekies emphasized the importance of gathering data. "We have a lot of work to do," he said.
Verstappen’s last four wins in Japan were interrupted by poor performance in 2026, with his best result this season being sixth in Australia.
The Dutch driver also faced scrutiny after a clash with a British reporter, raising concerns about his mental state after losing his title to Lando Norris.
