In Brisbane, young Muslims like Burak, 17, are increasingly fearful of praying in public due to rising Islamophobia. Burak, who recently learned about Pauline Hanson's controversial stunts and rhetoric, feels disrespected and unsafe. Sualyha, another student, worries about younger children internalizing harmful messages about Muslims. Ali Kadri, the CEO of the Islamic College of Brisbane, says the rhetoric makes young Muslims feel alienated. Following anti-Muslim incidents, the school now employs full-time security guards. Nourhana, 16, feels misunderstood and faces anti-Muslim comments online. Despite the challenges, students at the Islamic College handed out 'Petals of Peace' to promote kindness.
