Mexican strongman Enrique Zapata has set a new Guinness World Record, completing an astonishing 12,345 pull-ups in 24 hours. This feat surpasses the previous record of 11,900. Zapata's journey to this achievement is as inspiring as the record itself, marking a profound personal transformation.
Zapata revealed on the Tom Rowland Podcast that he previously struggled with obesity, hypertension, and severe alcohol addiction. Inspired by David Goggins' motivational book "Can't Hurt Me," Zapata shifted his perspective, embracing a mindset focused on boldness and capability.
To conquer the extreme physical challenge, Zapata employed nasal breathing for enhanced oxygen uptake, used cooling gels to protect his hands, mastered progressive overload training, and consumed amino acids and electrolytes to prevent fatigue and cramping. He estimates completing over one million pull-ups in the past five years.
Zapata emphasizes a non-negotiable mindset and a refusal to quit as keys to his success. He is now working on books to share his lessons on fasting, mindset, and biohacking, aiming to inspire others to achieve their own transformations. "If I can do it, anyone can do more," Zapata stated.
