Nurses at St. Boniface Hospital, Manitoba's second-largest, have deemed the facility unsafe, actively discouraging colleagues from accepting shifts or employment there. The Manitoba Nurses Union reports that 94 percent of its members voted in favor of this "grey listing" due to pervasive safety issues.

Union president Darlene Jackson stated that staff are frustrated with an environment where security concerns are acknowledged but not addressed. Key demands from the union include the installation of panic alarms, enhanced entrance screening, and safe transport shuttles for staff.
This marks the third hospital in seven months to receive such a designation from the union, following Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg and Thompson General Hospital. The province has recently committed to increasing security personnel and expanding a safety alert app to more facilities.
