RFK Jr. is pushing to lift FDA restrictions on 14 peptides previously banned over safety concerns. The move, reportedly under review by the agency, has drawn sharp criticism from medical experts.
Among the peptides under consideration are BPC-157, CJC-1295, and Ipamorelin-compounds with no validated clinical evidence of benefit. Experts warn these substances may trigger hormonal imbalances, promote tumor growth, or contain dangerous impurities from unregulated sources.
Last year, two women were hospitalized after receiving peptide injections at a Las Vegas anti-aging event. FDA leaders reportedly have serious reservations, fearing political influence over scientific standards.
"It’s a mess," said Dr. Eric Topol of Scripps Research. "We just know they’re a liability."
The FDA has not confirmed which peptides will be approved, nor whether clinical data will be required.
