The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has recalled a batch of 400g dried pineapple slices after detecting undeclared sulphur dioxide, a known allergen. The additive can trigger hives, stomach pain, diarrhea, and vomiting in hypersensitive individuals.

The recall targets products imported by Tai Sun (Lim Kee) Food Industries Pte Ltd and primarily sold at its warehouse factory sales. SFA mandated the recall on Friday, March 20, and it remains ongoing.

While sulphur dioxide doesn’t pose a broad food safety risk, it must be labeled under Singapore’s Food Regulations to protect allergic consumers. SFA urges those who purchased the product and are sulphite-intolerant not to consume it and to seek medical advice if symptoms occur. Consumers should contact their point of purchase with questions.
