Actor and former professional wrestler Tyler Mane has announced a diagnosis of male breast cancer. The 59-year-old, best known for portraying Sabretooth in the X-Men franchise and Deadpool & Wolverine, revealed he has begun chemotherapy and is publicly documenting his treatment.
Male breast cancer accounts for just one percent of all breast cancer cases, affecting roughly one in 750 men. Because routine screening does not exist for men, the disease is frequently detected at advanced stages. Mane credits his wife for insisting he have a suspicious lump evaluated, a decision that led to an early, highly treatable diagnosis.
Initially hesitant to share the news, Mane chose to go public to combat the stigma and raise awareness. He is currently on estrogen blockers and has committed to a daily fitness regimen to maintain his strength during treatment. Medical experts note that when caught early, survival rates for men mirror those for women. Mane continues to share updates, emphasizing that prompt medical attention remains the most critical factor in beating the disease.
