The race to the French Open quarter-finals heats up Monday as world number one Aryna Sabalenka takes on a resurgent Naomi Osaka in a rare women's night session at Roland Garros.

With defending champion Coco Gauff and four-time winner Iga Swiatek already out, last year's finalist Sabalenka has a golden opportunity. But hardcourt specialist Osaka has shown remarkable improvement on clay this year, reaching the fourth round for the first time.

When the pair met on clay in Madrid last month, Osaka took a set in a tiebreak before Sabalenka fought back to win. "I feel like I played a pretty good match in Madrid," Osaka said. "Hopefully, just keep the consistency and keep trying to be aggressive."

Meanwhile, men's fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime faces Chile's Alejandro Tabilo, who stunned Novak Djokovic en route to the Italian Open semi-finals in 2024. The Canadian has dropped the first set in each round but has proven his ability to deliver under pressure.

Frances Tiafoe takes on Italy's Matteo Arnaldi after both players endured four-hour battles in the third round. Tiafoe came back from two sets down against Jaime Faria, telling his opponent courtside, "Why don't you quit trying to act like you're tough?"
