Whoop, known for its performance wearable, is broadening its health platform by launching a new blood-testing service called "Specialized Panels." This expansion follows the company's initial foray into blood analysis with its Advanced Labs program.
The new Specialized Panels, priced at $299 each, offer targeted testing across five categories: heart health, performance, metabolic function, women's health, and men's health. Users can opt for blood draws through Quest Diagnostics, which analyze between 75 and 89 biomarkers. These are standalone offerings, distinct from the subscription-based Comprehensive Panel previously available.
Whoop states this move shifts from broad testing to more focused, goal-based insights. The program aims to integrate blood test results with the wearable's continuous data on sleep, recovery, and training, providing AI-powered, clinician-reviewed insights directly within the Whoop app. For example, the women's health panel includes 11 biomarkers relevant to cycle regulation and hormonal transitions. While positioned as empowering, the company advises users to consult with a doctor, as AI-driven insights do not replace professional medical advice. Whoop also notes its data security measures, including end-to-end encryption and strict access controls, though Quest Diagnostics' privacy policy indicates potential data sharing with third parties.
